Sunderland are in talks with French club Rennes about bringing Ghana star Asamoah Gyan to the Stadium of Light in a record deal, according to reports.

Steve Bruce is keen to relace Kenwyne Jones, who moved to Stoke, with the striker who shone at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

An injury to Frazier Campbell during Sunday's 1-0 win over Manchester City means Bruce will have his work cut out to find a striker before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday.
