"It was a difficult task for us and there were different ways of looking at it. We could have let our heads go down and say that it was out of our hands but I think at a club like Rangers you have to have character.

"We showed the resilience and sprit of our team even although we were down to nine men and it seemed like an impossible task.

"We found a way to stick together and then create one chance and that's what it took.

"After we scored we stayed compact and we defended well and we didn't allow them to have any chances.

"Cup finals are always difficult and St Mirren made it very difficult for us. They wanted to win the Cup as much as we did and you could see that in their play.

"We had a slow start but they came out in the first half firing on all cylinders and they really expressed themselves."

Sunday's triumph was Mo's first Cup success and he hopes there are more to come this season.

He said: "I missed the Scottish Cup Final last season because of my injury and we lost the League Cup Final last year so it was great to pick up the first trophy of this season.

"Hopefully this can give us momentum and we can finish the season strongly."
