Default Rangers considering red cards appeal

Rangers are considering appealing the red cards that were shown to Kevin Thomson and Danny Wilson on Sunday in the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.

Kevin Thomson was sent off for a two footed lunge on St Mirren's Steven Thomson. The third time he has been sent off by Craig Thomson. Meanwhile Danny Wilson was shown a straight red for a foul on the edge of the box which the ref seen as a goalscoring opportunity.

Ally McCoist has admitted that he can understand why Kevin Thomson was sent off, however Rangers have a big game coming up against Dundee United tomorrow night and could find themselves short in midfield. An appeal could pave the way for Thomson to play in the game.

Nine men Rangers pulled off a miracle when Kenny Miller scored the winning goal six minutes from time to win the cup for Rangers. Kevin Thomson and Danny Wilson have admitted that they considered missing out on the cup celebrations.

Thomson said himself and Danny Wilson sat in the dressing room and watched as their team mates celebrated the win. They felt that they had let the team down and were going to stay put, but they were told to get themselves out there.

Danny Wilson was clearly gutted by his red card, it was written all over his face when the players went up to lift the cup. He has admitted though that he deserved to walk and said: 'It's not easy for the referee to make those decisions, but I can't have too many complaints'.
