Roma playmaker Jeremy Menez would love to play for Manchester United after turning down a move to Old Trafford when he was younger.

The 23-year-old Frenchman is under contract in the Italian capital until 2013 after signing from Monaco for £10.7m in 2008.

But he said: 'When I was 15 I wanted to play under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United but after much consideration, I decided it was better to join a less prestigious club.

'However, I dream of being able to have a another chance to join United, sooner or later.'

Menez spent four years in the youth academy at Sochaux and two years in the senior team before joining Monaco. He has represented France at every youth level and made his full international debut earlier this year.
