Manchester United are looking to sign Juventus outcast Diego, according to Calciomercato.

The Brazilian playmaker signed from Werder Bremen last summer for €24.5 million [£20.2m], and after a promising start to life at the Stadio Olimpico, he fell out of favour towards the latter stages of the season.

New Juventus boss Luigi Del Neri reportedly does not see Diego playing any part in his squad plans and is considering letting the 25-year-old leave for the right price.

Diego has been suggested as a likely makeweight in Juventus' summer acquisitions, but it is believed they would not hang up the phone on a cash offer for the Brazilian.

Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson recently stated he would not spend big for next season, but with Anderson believed to be on his way out of the club, the Scottish tactician will want to bring in a new face.

Reports in Italy claim that the Red Devils will spend a figure in the region of €20 million on Diego, who has been in Europe since 2004.
