Christian Poulsen Unveiled to the media
Liverpool football club have signed 30 year old midfielder christian poulsen from Juventus. Roy Hodgson unveiled his new signing today.
Christian Poulsen today spoke of his pride at joining Liverpool Football Club - and declared himself fit for Sunday's season opener against Arsenal.
In an extensive interview which can be watched in full on our new LFCTV Online service, the Denmark international explained his reasons for leaving Juventus and for picking the No.28 shirt at Anfield.
He also revealed what Daniel Agger has told him about life in Liverpool and explained his desire to prove himself to English football fans.
Poulsen's quest to adapt to life in the Barclays Premier League could start as soon as Sunday when the Reds host Arsenal.
The 30-year-old is desperate to be involved.
"I started a little bit later because of the World Cup but I've done pre-season with Juventus," he said. "I didn't play the last matches in the Europa League because of the move to this club.
"I am feeling fit but of course it's a decision for the manager and the staff."
Poulsen signed a three-year deal at Melwood on Thursday morning before training with his new teammates.
One man the Dane already knows well is Roy Hodgson, who gave him his breakthrough at FC Copenhagen 10 years ago.
The new boy is delighted to be working under the Englishman once again.
"I had two good years with him so I hope to carry that on, and hopefully he'll be satisfied with my qualities," said Poulsen.
"He's a manager who's been all over the world and has a lot of experience, so of course I have a lot of respect for him.
"Roy didn't have to say that much because Liverpool Football Club is known all around the world, and for people in Denmark, Liverpool are the biggest club in England."
Poulsen is known as a no-nonsense midfielder - but the man himself is keen to stress that he's more than just an enforcer.
He said: "I like also to play technical football. I see myself as a player who tries to play football but I can also make a tackle.
"With this move here I have a lot to prove. If you come to a club like Liverpool, you have to deliver. I will hopefully show I can be a good player for Liverpool."
