Chelsea need to pay £25 million for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea -
Chelsea have been told by Atletico Madrid that they will have to pay £25 million for Spanish starlet David De Gea, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper has impressed the football world since replacing Sergio Asenjo at Madrid and even made Spain's initial 30-man squad for the World Cup.
A series of formidable displays have attracted the interest of a host of top clubs but Atletico have reportedly insisted that only a huge fee will clinch De Gea's services for next season.
Last summer, Stoke City were told they could sign De Gea for just £1.4m but turned down the chance while Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp also rejected an opportunity to buy the player after being told that Asenjo was not available.
Manchester United are looking for a long-term successor to Edwin van der Sar who turns 40 this year but may be put off by the huge asking price while Carlo Ancelotti is also reportedly keen on the young Spaniard.
