Default Elmander finds its good to talk as Trotters run riot

Owen Coyle certainly talks a good game, and his infectious enthusiasm might just turn Johan Elmander's Bolton career around.

The Sweden striker was bought by former Wanderers manager Gary Megson for a club record £8.2million in 2008, but has scored just 10 goals in 57 games in his time at the Reebok.

But current boss Coyle revealed he had been talking with Elmander, 28, to try to help the hard-working centre forward in front of goal.It seemed to work on Saturday as Elmander slid in Bolton's first.

A delighted Coyle said: 'He's worthy of more goals than he has had but I've told him to keep banging on the door and they will come. 'I have extensive chats with Johan all the time and have tried to reinforce the belief I have in him. I'm showing that trust by picking him every week because I know what he's bringing to the team.'

Elmander's strike partner Kevin Davies has been talked about as a potential England player by Coyle, and the Bolton captain scored the second from the penalty spot just after half time.

Fabrice Muamba hit the third, his first goal for Bolton, and Matt Taylor slid home a fourth to leave Wigan manager Roberto Martinez rueing his side's failure to build on the win over Liverpool. He said: 'We haven't been consistent enough ... this defeat is really frustrating.'
