David Dunn has backed Blackburn Rovers' bid for Stoke City striker James Beattie.

Beattie is understood to be among Rovers’ targets this summer and remains friends with Dunn after both came through the club’s youth system in the late 1990s.

"I think the way we play he could be a good addition to the squad, so hopefully something might get sorted there,” Rovers ace Dunn told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“I’m sure James is pretty keen on coming back home, but it depends on how much money the manager’s got and if he needs to shift a few around.

“We’ll wait and see.”
