Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has hinted that French defender Pascal Chimbonda and Danish full back Lars Jacobsen could be surplus to requirement come next season, and may possibly move the pair on.

With Michel Salgado making the right back slot his own after a string of impressive performances since adjusting to the pace of the Premier League, the defensive pair have seen their performances limited.

Allardyce said: “Chim has ended up being the one left out. A similar thing happened with Lars at the start of the season and now Michel Salgado is looking comfortable at right-back.”

However, Jacobsen’s appearances have been restricted by injuries this season and has been reliable when called upon by Allardyce.

Chimbonda has had a somewhat mixed season on the other hand, and Allardyce could sell the player to earn some cash for his striker hunt and free up some wages.
