Default Veteran midfielder important figure for Rovers

Former Burnley goalkeeper Jim Furnell is certain that Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn could play a key role in the result of Sunday’s Lancashire derby.

Furnell spent eight seasons at Turf Moor and later joined Blackburn at the end of his playing career to work with the youth team.

Burnley host Rovers this weekend in the Lancahire derby desperate points in their fight for Premier League survival.

Rovers claimed the spoils in the reverse fixture at Ewood Park early this season with a 3-2 win and Furnell believes Dunn knows what the occasion is all about.

“David’s a local lad who knows about the rivalry, whereas a lot of these players from Europe don’t know as much about it,” Furnell told The Blackburn Citizen.

“He did do well in the first game and he’s a good player when he’s fit.

"He will be important again at Turf Moor.”

Dunn struck twice in mid week as Blackburn saw off Birmingham City and will no doubt play a major a role if fit for this weekends key clash.
