Calf injury to sideline Robinson
Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson is set for a spell on the sidelines after limping out of Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Tottenham with a calf injury.
The former Spurs shot-stopper had to be replaced by Jason Brown after only 15 minutes of the White Hart Lane clash and will now have a scan to determine the extent of the injury.
Boss Sam Allardyce confirmed after the match: "We'll have to have the calf scanned as soon as we can to see the extent of the tear and then see how long it will take to repair that and get him back fit and well.
"But it gives Jason an opportunity to come into the fray and show us what he can do.
"He's done a great job in the small times he's played this season in the Carling Cup and hopefully that will stand him in good stead and he'll step in and do a very good job."
Meanwhile, Allardyce was unhappy with his side's defending in the game, adding: "With the goals we've conceded we've only ourselves to blame.
"For the first goal it was the near-post area that we should have defended better, and that was disappointing particularly as we were so close to coming in at half-time 0-0.
"In the second half we reorganised and took control of the game but then Brett Emerton heads a ball sideways instead of across the goal, their player picks it up and, within three seconds, Pavlyuchenko has a shot that goes under Jason Brown and it's 2-0.
"You can't keep committing suicide like that.
"It was always going to be difficult from then on. We got ourselves back in it with a good goal and you'd have thought we'd have learned our lesson but no, we go and make even more errors on the third goal."
