Default Scotsman looking for consistent run-in

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has called for his side to go unbeaten in their last seven games of the season.

The Blues have dropped down to ninth in the Premier League table after two successive defeats away from St Andrew’s.

McLeish has now urged his players to go on a undefeated run starting with this weekend's game against Arsenal at home.

“I said to them why can’t we believe we can go undefeated the last seven games?” McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

“We have proved it before that we can go on a long run of games without losing, so I’m challenging them to do that.”

The Blues went on a 13-game unbeaten streak earlier this season and despite their recent slump in form McLeish believes his side can bounce back.

“We’ve had a couple of disappointments now,” he added.

“And you go through periods like this. You have a bit of bad luck in terms of every little error results in a goal, and that’s what’s happening to us just now.”

“But I feel we have earned the right to be where we are at the moment. It has been a marvellous performance level by the players, their mental strength, and they have just got to fight this one through as well.”

Birmingham host Arsenal this weekend having gone unbeaten in their last 11 games at home but have only beaten the Gunners once in the pairs last 11 meetings.
