Default Wilshere set to TREBLE his money

Jack Wilshere is set to sign a bumper new £20million five-year contract at Arsenal.

Gifted Gunners midfielder Wilshere, 18, is tipped to be England’s next big superstar. He is already in advanced talks with Arsenal about a new deal which will more than TREBLE his current £15,000-a-week wages.

Boss Arsene Wenger is confident that Wilshere will commit to the long “sliding scale” contract which will increase based on success as he grows older.

Wilshere, likely to start on around £50,000-a-week, is into the final two years of his contract.

Clubs are restricted on long-term deals with players until they turn 18 – so Arsenal are determined to tie him down fast.

Wenger, who compared Wilshere to Gunners legend Liam Brady, said: “We are confident we will sign Jack quickly and hope to announce the deal soon.

“Jack has had a great start to the season, in a position where we expected him to come out higher on the pitch. But, basically, it suits him well to play from deep.

“There is a touch of Liam Brady about him. I totally agree with that.

“He is a quiet guy, but it looks like he can handle the pressure well. Where you see that is in the big games, as he wants the ball. So it is natural for him to play.

“He is like Wayne Rooney was at 16 or 17. They have the same confidence about them.

“It is a bit like asking a mathematician to solve a problem and then you ask someone else who is not gifted to solve one too – but it is natural for Jack.”

Wilshere completes the final match of his three-game suspension against West Ham today.

But he will be in Fabio Capello’s England squad for the Wembley friendly with France on November 17.

Arsenal are also close to signing Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, 20, on a long-term contract at the Emirates.
