Barca rule out 'exorbitant' Cesc fee
Barcelona president Joan Laporta says he will not pay an 'exorbitant price' to sign Cesc Fabregas this summer.
Barca are chasing the Gunners star after he made it clear to Arsene Wenger that he would like to return to the Nou Camp this summer, but Laporta says he will only pay the going rate.
Arsenal will be holding out for as much as possible but Laporta is only willing to go so high and that could throw any potential deal into doubt.
"We will not sign any players for above market value," he said. "We are interested in signing Cesc and Arsenal know that but we will not pay an exorbitant price for any player.
"When it comes to market prices, we'll strengthen where we can but will not pay an unrealistic price."
Gunners fans will be hoping that Barca are priced out of a move, but it may not go down well with Fabregas who has made it clear he wants to return home.
