Default Frenchman reckons Prem title chase is important

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has fired a warning shot to his charges, insisting they must concentrate ahead of the Premier League fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday, declaring that the "next game is always the most important one".

The Gunners take on Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final next week, and the Frenchman intends to prove his point by resisting the temptation to rest centre-half Sol Campbell in the game at St Andrew's.

"Birmingham is more important than Barcelona," Wenger is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"I will pick him for the next game because the next game is always the most important one.

"We have fought for the whole season to give ourselves a chance of winning the championship, and now we are in this position it is a priority."

A victory over Brum will put the pressure back on fellow title-chasing rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, who lock horns at Old Trafford on April 3.
