Arsenal have been rebuffed in a £1m bid for young Stuttgart goalkeeper Odesseas Vlachidimos.

The 15-year-old is already 6ft 3ins tall and is one of the most sought after talents in European football. Arsenal have jumped to the front of the queue after strong interest from Italy and other Premier League sides.

However, their £1m offer, which would entail a compensation fee plus an annual prospective salary has been rejected.

Vlachidimos is believed to be keen on a switch to London but Arsenal may have to improve their offer with Stuttgart desperate to keep hold of one of Germany's brightest prospects.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehman, Stuttgart's current number one, is believed to have been very impressed by the 15-year-old.
